Angelina Jolie is at war with Vanity Fair Magazine!
It all started when she was interviewed about her new movie, "First They Killed My Father"... a story about a young girl growing up in Cambodia. Angelina has adopted children from Cambodia and wanted to cast a local girl from a very poor village as the main character.
The controversy is in the CASTING PROCESS. Angelina told the magazine that they went to a local, underprivileged school and played a "game" with the students. She said they put MONEY on the table, and asked the students to take it. Then the producers would "catch them" taking it, force them to give it back, and come up with a story as to why they needed the money.
(Keep in mind, these kids aren’t actors. They live pretty tough lives, so giving them money with the intention to take it back seems CRUEL.)
Angelina even admitted that the girl who got the part got very emotional when she gave the money back, and said she needed it for her grandfather’s funeral!
So, now people are calling Angelina heartless, and she's defending herself by saying she was taken out of context. In response, Vanity Fair has released the transcript of the interview (and it didn't help her case).
