Saskatchewan contractors working on provincial projects say that Saskatchewan license plates aren't welcome on Government of Alberta job sites, so the provincial government has decided to do the same.
Highways and Infrastructure Minister and Minister responsible for SaskBuilds, David Marit, says vehicles with Alberta plates will no longer be allowed on job sites for Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure's new projects. This applies only to new contracts awarded by the Ministry. Existing job sites won't be impacted. Marit reasons that Saskatchewan operators have been subject to this treatment in Alberta for years, where they would have to get Alberta license plates, so from now on, the message is that Alberta suppliers can expect the same treatment here.
