The City of Saskatoon wants to see its residents enjoy the city as much in the winter as they do in the summer so they handed out a number of small grants to encourage winter activities, and those start to roll out this weekend.
Brenda Wallace, Director of Environmental and Corporate Initiatives says first up is Crokicurl which is a combination of crokinol and curling and will be at the top of the Broadway Bridge. Next Thursday is the start of Theatre on the Trail with SUM Theatre and a live theatrical walk on Meewasin Trail. Winterruption also kicks off January 18th and it includes 23 shows in 9 indoor venues in the Broadway area. A tipi was raised in late November at Ecole Victoria School and will be used for free storytelling. The outdoor festival also features things like free sleigh rides, hot beverages and face painting.
