$10,000 US will mean better opportunities for those who use the Saskatoon Public Library.
Saskatoon Public Library has received the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award, which comes with the prize money. Beth Cote with SPL says there a few pieces of technology the library plans to buy with the money. In total, SPL will be purchasing 40 Code-A-Pillars, 40 Snap Circuit kits, 40 Makey Makey kits, and 30 Ozobots. All items that foster growth in technology literacy in youth. SPL is one of only five Canadian libraries to win the award in the past decade. Hamilton, Richmond, Edmonton, and Vancouver are the only other recipients. You have to apply for the award to win it. Cote says the library didn't have the budget in the 2017 year to move towards a technology literacy project, so this money is a big help.
