Those looking for a place to stay during the deep freeze, don't have to look any further as several non-for-profit organizations across Saskatoon are welcoming thoose in need during the freeze.
Shaun Dyck, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership says locations such as The Friendship Inn, The Lighthouse, The Bridge along with Saskatoon Public Libraries are all centres where those in need can spend time to warm up. Dyck adds that people can also contact a mobile crisis phoneline at 306-933-6200 to request assistance that will then provide people with transportation to one of the warm-up centres. Saskatoon libraries are opening their lobbies two hours prior to regular business hours to help those in need of a place to warm up. Dyck says the only downfall is that there is just one place that offers 24 hour availability as a warming station and that's the Lighthouse.
