There were two major announcements by Saskatoon Co-op.
Members of Saskatoon Co-op were on hand to cut the ribbon and officially open their new 60-thousand square foot Greystone home centre on 8th Street.
The facility is four times larger than their previous home store a few blocks away, and includes a 25-thousand square foot enclosed drive through lumber yard.
The expanded home centre is the latest example of a number of hardware stores that have appeared in Saskatoon, despite low build and home starts in Saskatoon compared to five years ago.
However, CEO of Saskatoon Co-op Grant Wicks says over the 40 to 50 years their new building will last, there will be economic booms and recessions, so they felt confident in building the new facility.
The other announcement was a 43-thousand dollar donation to United Way through their Fuel Good Day in September.
