Manpower Group says Saskatoon area employers expect a sluggish hiring climate for the second quarter of the year.
According to their survey data, only three per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter while seven percent anticipate cutbacks. The rest plan to maintain current staffing levels. After removing seasonal variations, the numbers show a Net Employment Outlook of minus two per cent. That would be a four percentage point drop from the previous quarterly outlook. It's a 16 per cent drop when compared to the outlook for the same period a year ago.
