The Saskatoon Blades face a daunting task as they get set to host the third annual "Team Up For Respect" game this morning.
After winning five straight games, the Bridge City Bunch dropped 4-2 and 3-1 decisions Friday in Moose Jaw and Saturday at home to Lethbridge. Today's opponent, in front of a large crowd augmented by seven to eight-thousand school children, is the W-H-L's top team...the Regina Pats. To make matters worse, the Queen City Kids are on a four-game winning streak coming in. Double Blue assistant coach Bryce Thoma acknowledged they have a tough task against the Pats. “They’re a good team but at the same time we worry about stuff we can control. Getting back and reminding ourselves why we won five in a row. We were relentless, we had a good work ethic, capitalized on our opportunities. You’ve got to look back at those five games and look what you did right and try and take those things and focus on those little details and just be sharper.” Following weekend action, the Blades hold on the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference has been trimmed to just one point over Calgary.
