A Saskatoon Blade is making his mark for Russia at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships.
17 year old defenseman Mark Rubinchik scored twice, including the overtime winner, and had an assist as Russia claimed a 5-4 win Tuesday morning over the Czech Republic. That now puts Rubinchik tied for 4th in tournament scoring with 6 points in four preliminary round games.
Rubinchik and Russia will now face the host Slovakia in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
The other Blades member in connection to the tournament is their head equipment manager Chad Scharff, who is carrying out that role with Team Canada.
