Logan Flodell will man the crease for the Saskatoon Blades this weekend tonight in Moose Jaw and tomorrow at home to Lethbridge.
That's because Brock Hamm suffered a lower body injury during the Bridge City Bunch's fifth straight win last Sunday over Swift Current. Head coach Dean Brockman says there's "no timetable" for Hamm's return, adding that he'll be out "for a little while." Flodell was in net for the first four wins on the Double Blue's current streak. 17-year-old Hafford product Joel Gryzbowski has been brought in from the Battlefords of the S-J-H-L to back-up. The Blades' winning streak has vaulted them into an Eastern Conference playoff spot...four points ahead of Calgary and six up on Edmonton, each of whom has two games in hand on Saskatoon. Brockman talked about why this group's confidence seems more solid than that of Blades' teams from the past couple of years. “I think there’s pressure on us to win hockey games. If they get that winning feeling then you hope it’s contagious. You’ve gotta have confidence to play the game or confidence to do anything. Just keep reminding them who they are and what they can do and how they can contribute to our hockey team.” Tonight's broadcast on 92.9 The Bull begins at 6:30 with the play-by-play at 7.
