It’s a week of much needed rest for the Saskatoon Hilltops before they’ll have a chance to three-peat as national champions.
Both the Hilltops and BC champion Westshore Rebels have a bye week before they’ll clash in the Canadian Bowl championship game. Because the BCFC final was on Saturday night, ahead of the Hilltops game on Sunday, Hilltops head coach Tom Sargent had a great chance to watch the Rebels play. Sargent says their passion and energy level stood out to him. “They’re big, they run the ball, they’re physical, the quarterback is six foot seven and he can throw the ball. Speedy receivers, aggressive defence, I like the flavour of their team. The good thing is we had a chance to go there a month and a half ago so we got a sense about their league.” Saturday will mark the eighth time the Hilltops have played for the Canadian Bowl in the previous ten years while the Rebels have only won two BC Championships. Saskatoon is the two-time defending Canadian Bowl champion. For fans in Saskatoon you can listen to the Canadian Bowl live on 92.9 The Bull. (Photo courtesy Louis Christ lchrist.com)
