Men’s basketball adds top B.C. recruit
SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan men’s basketball program is pleased to announce B.C. talent Cameron Wright as the newest addition to the Huskies.
The 6-0 shooting guard from Vancouver College Fighting Irish in Vancouver, B.C. has made his commitment to play with the Huskies beginning in the 2018-19 season.
“We are very pleased to be able to add a high quality student-athlete like Cameron to our program,” said Huskie head coach Barry Rawlyk. “The combination of his athletic ability, his commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the court, and his outstanding character make him an ideal fit for our program. He comes to us from Vancouver College, a program with a great tradition in athletics, and one that has previous ties with Huskie Athletics. Cameron is excited about his opportunities here, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him.”
The multiple first team all-star and MVP selection in high school at Vancouver College has been playing basketball since Grade 1. In the summer of 2017, Wright played for the DRIVE Elite 1 team competing in AAU tournaments in Vancouver, Seattle, Anaheim and Las Vegas.
“I decided that this was the right fit for me in October after visiting for the Graham Shootout,” said Wright of his commitment. “I found everyone to be very friendly, the campus had a culture that I loved and it just felt right. I've been passionate about the Vancouver College Fighting Irish family since I started playing basketball in Grade 5 and now I'm looking forward to joining the Huskies family.”
Wright will study in the Edwards School of Business.
The Huskies travel to meet the Brandon Bobcats Friday and Saturday.
