The Saskatchewan Roughriders officially confirmed today that they will once again be holding this year's training camp Griffith's Stadium at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.
Training Camp will open May 28th, with the team's first mock game and Rider Fan Day taking place at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex on June 3rd. This will mark the fifth consecutive season the team will travel to the U of S campus to hold training camp after the Green and White began holding practice sessions there in 2013. The team will stay in Saskatoon through the conclusion of the preseason on June 16th.
Speaking of training camp, the U of S football Huskies continues their 2017 spring camp at Griffiths Stadium. Today's one and only practice goes at 5 p.m. Also, the Saskatoon Hilltops begin their 2017 spring camp at Ron Atchison Field. About 120 players will draw equipment and be put through their paces by veteran head coach Tom Sargeant and his staff through Sunday's Blue and Gold Game. Today's lone practice goes at 7 p.m.
Related to the Hilltops, their home, Saskatoon Minor Football Field saw work begin today to install 5,000 seats and 9 boxes donated to the Friends of the Bowl Foundation from the Saskatchewan Roughriders' Grey Cup Legacy Project. The Legacy Project was introduced in 2012 in preparation for the 2013 Grey Cup. Corporate boxes and 7,000 temporary seats were added to the end zones at Mosaic Stadium, with goal of donating them to amateur sports programs in the province.
