Colin Stumborg is the latest member of the Canadian Bowl Champion Saskatoon Hilltops to make the jump to University football.
The hard-hitting fullback will join graduating wide receiver Sam Mike at the University of Regina.
The 5’11” 235-pound product of Bishop Mahoney was part of the last four Canadian Bowl-winning teams in his five-year career with the Hilltops.
Stumborg was often the lead blocker on running plays and was a key contributor to the overall success of the rushing attack. Stumborg is one reason why fellow fifth-year veteran Logan Fischer put up an All-Canadian 804 rushing yards in 2017. He also helped make it possible for Adam Machart to average over eight yards a carry while totalling 686 last season.
Stumborg also knew what to do with the rock when it came his way. He caught a key touchdown pass in the Toppers season-opening win in Regina and added a regular season rushing major later on. Stumborg starred in the Hilltops 48-0 Canadian Bowl semifinal win over the Vancouver Island Raiders scoring back to back rushing and receiving touchdowns in the Toppers final game of 2017 at S-M-F Field.
Other Hilltop graduates moving to the C-I-S are Defensive Lineman Tom Schnitzler and Safety James Vause who have agreed to join the U-B-C Thunderbirds.
All-Canadian Rush End Riley Pickett will chase quarterbacks next season with the U-of-S Huskies.
