Saskatchewan feeder cattle prices were generally high last week with the biggest gains for lighter animals.
Canfax reports 300 to 400 pound steers saw an increase of $11.57 for an average price of $257.75 per hundredweight. There were some small price declines for 500 to 600 pound and 600 to 700 pound steers.
Overall feeder steer prices increased by an average of nearly $3 per hundredweight.
The heifers were relatively stable in the middle weight classes, with price increases for lighter cattle and lower bids for the heavy heifers.
Prices for liveweight, non-fed cattle in Alberta were higher over the week. The price of D1,2 slaughter cows increased 29 cents to average $87.08 per hundredweight. The price of D3 slaughter cows increased $3.42 to average $78.50 per hundredweight.
