It's my Parting Shot for my Weekend Short Shots...
And, suddenly, Super Bowl weekend is upon us. I don't know how much of the 52nd edition I will watch live. But, the "Fearless Predictor" isn't going to follow the horde of experts and dynasty haters who want Bill Belichik, Tom Brady and New England to lose. I'm saying the Patriots win and cover the spread over Philadelphia!
As a proud Winnipegger, a trip to the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert has been capped several times by hearing a song from the Manitoba capital's greatest contribution to the global music scene...Burton Cummings and "The Guess Who." Yes, the Raiders play "Running Back to Saskatoon" everytime they beat the Blades at home. I secretly love hearing that song. I wonder if anyone will mind if I belt out a verse for old time sake if the Blades happen to win tonight!
Speaking of me singing, if you really want to hear that happen, it could occur February 23 as I'm slated to sing the National Anthem prior to the Blades home game against Regina. But, that only happens if at least $1,500.00 is raised with the funds going to the Canadian Red Cross' Pink T-Shirt Day Anti-Bullying Campaign on February 28. If you would like to hear me sing the anthem, and contribute to a great charity, check out the guy's twitter page who got this all started. Darren Dupont is my colour commentator on Blades home game broadcasts...you can access a "gofundme" page at @darrendupont. Blades' owner Mike Priestner has pledged to match all contributions...and if we raise at least $5,000.00, there might be more singing that night...if you really want!
