It's my Parting Shot for my two cents worth on the Roughriders' quarterback carousel...
Nobody should be surprised at Saskatchewan acquiring Zach Collaros and releasing Kevin Glenn (pictured). Collaros is nine years younger than Glenn and has been a four-year starter in the C-F-L...as well as being well-known to Chris Jones from their days together in Toronto. As for Glenn, his lack of elusiveness in the pocket led to him being pulled from several games late in the season in favour of Brandon Bridge. Glenn's "best before date" seemed to come and pass rapidly as the 2017 campaign continued!
As for Brandon Bridge, I see where the early responses to today's Internet Sports Poll question lean towards people not being happy that the Canadian is being passed over to be the starting quarterback...based on Wednesday's dialogue accompanying the acquisition of Collaros. Two things...one, Collaros has to sign and prove he's the starter ahead of Bridge during training camp. Two, until the C-F-L roster ratio rules change, allowing Canadian quarterbacks to be recognized as "Nationals", all of them...not just Bridge...will be back-ups!
I like what the Riders did. Collaros is 29 and has several good seasons left in him...assuming he can regain the form of 2014 and 2015 with Hamilton!
