As Homer Simpson once said, quote, I like stories. And, the one penned by Team Canada forward and Swift Current Broncos sniper Tyler Steenbergen is as storybook or Disney-like as you can get. You know what it is...Steenbergen was the only Canadian forward to not score a goal at the World Junior Hockey Championship, thanks to being tabbed the 13th forward and getting less ice time as a result. But, Steenbergen redirected Connor Timmins slap-pass into the Swedish net late in the third period Friday for the winning goal in the gold medal game. How can you not like that!
Two road teams won Saturday and the two home teams won Sunday on N-F-L wild-card weekend. The first three games were terrible...with New Orleans' win over Carolina only slightly salvaging the fans appetite for good football!
It looks like the Saskatchewn Rush are the class of the National Lacrosse League again. They are 3-and-oh to start the season after winning in Georgia against the defending champion Swarm 13-9 back on Saturday. It seems like only the Rush and their mental game, with attention to detail, is the only way Saskatchewan will lose this year!
And, I see where "Sherry and the Kids" will represent Saskatchewan at the Canadian Women's Curling Championship. Sherry Anderson will make her seventh trip to the national Scotties...and will do a fine job!
