It's my Parting Shot for some Weekend Short Shots...
Whoa back there horsey! That talk of an all-Canadian Stanley Cup final between Edmonton and Ottawa, when both teams won the first two games of their current Conference semi-final series, appears to have been a little premature. The Oilers came home and promptly lost twice to Anaheim while the Senators lost twice on Broadway. I'll stick with my picks of those two U-S teams prevailing. The Ducks will finally be a home-team winner in that series and the Rangers will win in Ottawa...mark my words!
If I were paranoid, I'd say the Saskatoon Blades' management and scouts were out to make my life as their broadcaster miserable. Look at the last names of their first three selections in yesterday's W-H-L Bantam Draft. There's de la Grogendiere, a Crnkovic and a Plachewsky. But, I'm O-K with this. The guys I worry about are my colleagues who won't need to call those names nearly as often as I will...as well as Bridge City Bunch equipment manager Chad Scharff. Can you imagine the name bar for de la Grogendiere's jersey?!
The Raptors are talking bravely about being back home and getting their act together for the next two games of their N-B-A Eastern Conference final. That's what they have to say, but I think even they know they don't have a snowball's chance in Hades of beating LeBron James and Cleveland!
