The Riders are six games into 2017 and their 2-4 record in a very good Western Division means a cross-over playoff spot is the only chance they have at a post season berth.
Wins over Hamilton and Toronto indicate they can compete with the CFL "Leas", but aren't even close out West. Tire pumping prosperity against the Ti-cats and Argos provided hope until calamatous trips to cow-town and BC's lower mainland where the Riders produced nary a point until the third and fourth quarters respectively.
In BC they probably would have been shut-out if the Lions number-one defense had stayed on the field while back-up QB Brandon Bridge was producing a pair of late touchdown passes. The Riders were poorly prepared and that falls on Head Coach Chris Jones and company. But the bigger problem is this team simply isn't good enough to compete with the Eskimos, Stampeders and Lions. They will play better this Sunday at home against BC, but don't expect a win.
